Rev. Sanath Kumara Medagamgoda Appointed as Archdeacon of Kurunagala Diocese

We are pleased to announce that Rev. Sanath Kumara Medagamgoda has been selected as the new Archdeacon of the Kurunagala Diocese, effective from January 2025. His appointment was made by Rt. Rev. Nishantha Fernando, Bishop of the Diocese of Kurunagala. Rev. Sanath Kumara will succeed Ven. Anton Williams, the current Archdeacon of Kurunagala, who has served the diocese faithfully.

Ordained in 2009, Rev. Sanath Kumara has made significant contributions to the Anglican community. He has served as Priest-in-Charge of St. Paul's Church, Kandy, St. Andrew's Church, Gampola, and several other churches across the region. Additionally, he holds the role of Chaplain at Hillwood College, Kandy, a prominent Anglican girls' college in Sri Lanka, and serves as the Coordinator of the Board of Social Responsibility for the Diocese of Kurunagala.

We extend our heartfelt prayers and best wishes to Rev. Sanath Kumara and his family as he embarks on this new chapter in his ministry. His leadership is expected to bring positive growth and blessings to the diocese.

We also take this opportunity to express our deep gratitude to Ven. Anton Williams for his dedicated service as Archdeacon. His commitment and leadership have greatly enriched the diocese, and we wish him well in his future endeavours.

Details regarding the Installation service for Rev. Sanath Kumara will be announced by the Diocese in the near future.

Let us keep both Rev. Sanath Kumara and Ven. Anton Williams in our prayers during this time of transition.
