Cyclone Ditwah Brings Unprecedented Destruction Across Sri Lanka: Church of Ceylon Mobilizes Relief.
+ Click to read moreIn the wake of the recent severe weather and widespread flooding across Sri Lanka, the Board of Social Responsibility (BSR) of the Diocese of Colombo has activated a comprehensive Disaster Response Mechanism to support families and communities affected by the devastation.

As the Anglican Church continues its long tradition of serving the nation during times of crisis, this initiative aims to provide urgent relief, mid-term assistance, and long-term rehabilitation for those whose lives and livelihoods have been disrupted.
The Diocese invites all faithful, partners, and well-wishers to extend their support during this critical time. Anglican churches across the Diocese are now functioning as collection centres, receiving essential items and dry rations to be distributed to affected communities.
For those wishing to contribute financially, donations can be made directly to the official disaster response fund:
Account Name: Board of Social Responsibility
Account Number: 0002322662
Swift Code: BCEYLKLX
Bank Name: Bank of Ceylon
Branch: Independent Square Branch, Colombo 07
These contributions will go directly toward relief operations coordinated by the Diocese of Colombo and its parish networks on the ground.
The BSR’s disaster response efforts focus on:
Immediate relief: food, water, hygiene items, medicines, clothing
Mid-term support: temporary housing, livelihood assistance
Long-term recovery: rebuilding homes, community structures, and ensuring sustainable rehabilitation
This programme is part of the Anglican Church of Ceylon’s continuing commitment to stand alongside vulnerable communities, ensuring that no family faces disaster alone.
