Rt. Rev. Nishantha Fernando Embarks on Pastoral Journey and Confirmation Services Across Diocese of Kurunagala

The Diocese of Kurunagala has been buzzing with spiritual fervour as Rt. Rev. Nishantha Fernando, the esteemed bishop, continued his pastoral visits and actively participated in confirmation services, fostering a deeper connection with the diverse church communities.

On October 1st, the bishop's pastoral journey took him to Christ Church in Kadugannawa, where he led a service alongside the priest in charge, Rev. Anurudhdha Bandara. The congregation experienced a momentous occasion as the bishop imparted his blessings and guidance.

A week later, on October 9th, Rt. Rev. Nishantha Fernando graced Christ Church in Wattegama with his presence, presiding over a confirmation service. The priest in charge, Rev. Rohana Rajapaksha, and the congregation welcomed the bishop warmly, creating an atmosphere of spiritual unity and joy.

The bishop's pastoral journey continued on October 13th when he visited the House Church in Thanthirimale, a rural community. Alongside the parish priest, Rev. Ranjana Laksiri, Rt. Rev. Nishantha Fernando engaged with the local community, sharing blessings and strengthening the bonds of faith.

The following day, October 14th, witnessed another confirmation service at St. Luke's Church in Galewela. Rev. Susila Rohini Marasinghe, the priest in charge, joined hands with the bishop to lead the service, symbolizing the unity of the church.

A particularly special visit unfolded at St. John's Church in Gatambe, where the bishop once served as the priest in charge before ascending to the episcopacy. Rev. Mahesh Hemachandra and Mallika Wijerathne, along with the community, warmly welcomed their former priest, marking the occasion with a confirmation service that resonated with significance.

On October 18th, although not a pastoral visit, Rt. Rev. Nishantha Fernando, alongside the archdeacon and several other priests, participated in the blessing ceremony of the new door of St. Andrew's Church in Nawalapitiya. This collective act reflected the bishop's commitment to the broader community and the enhancement of sacred spaces.

In each instance, the church communities went above and beyond to warmly welcome Rt. Rev. Nishantha Fernando, expressed their appreciation for his pastoral care.
