Nurturing Young Faith: Diocesan Sunday School Rally 2025

The Diocesan Sunday School Rally 2025, organized by the Board of Religious Education, was held on Saturday, 10th May 2025, at the Town Hall, Kurunegala, under the inspiring theme “Growing with Jesus.”

The day began with a vibrant parade, as Sunday school children, teachers, clergy, and families marched joyfully from the Cathedral of Christ the King to the Town Hall. The procession was a visible and joyful witness to the unity and life of the Church’s younger generation.

At the Town Hall, the event continued with a dynamic celebration of talent and faith, showcasing the gifts of our Sunday school students through singing, dancing, drama, music, and other creative expressions. It was a heartwarming display of how faith is growing and flourishing in the lives of our children.

The Bishop of Kurunegala, Rt. Rev. Nishantha Fernando, graced the event as chief guest, joined by clergy from across the Diocese. In his address, the Bishop encouraged children and parents alike to remain rooted in Christ and to walk confidently in faith.

The spirit of the day was beautifully captured in the theme verse, Colossians 2:7:

“Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.”

The Diocese extends heartfelt gratitude to the Board of Religious Education, teachers, volunteers, parents, and all clergy who supported and made this event a meaningful experience for all involved. It was truly a celebration of the Church’s future—rooted in Christ, growing in faith.
