Empowering the Clergy and Sunday School Teachers: Recent Workshops in the Diocese

The Diocese of Kurunagala recently hosted two significant workshops aimed at empowering its clergy and Sunday school teachers, reinforcing its commitment to spiritual growth and community development.

On February 13th, 2024, clergy members from across the diocese congregated for a workshop organized in collaboration with World Vision Sri Lanka, a prominent Christian relief, development, and advocacy organization. This event provided an invaluable platform for priests to enhance their knowledge and skills in various aspects of pastoral care and community engagement. Resource persons from World Vision Sri Lanka led the workshop, offering insights and guidance to the attending clergy. The collaborative effort between the Diocese of Kurunagala and World Vision Sri Lanka underscores the importance of partnerships in fostering holistic development within the community.

Following the clergy workshop, on February 17th, 2024, the Diocesan Sunday School Teacher Training Program took place, further enriching the educational endeavours within the diocese. Rev. Maruthai Samuel Rasiah Ravindran spearheaded this initiative alongside senior Sunday school teachers. The program aimed to equip Sunday school educators with effective teaching methodologies and spiritual guidance to nurture the young minds entrusted to their care. Held at the serene Cathedral of Christ the King in Kurunegala, the program attracted numerous enthusiastic Sunday school teachers from various congregations across the diocese.

These workshops serve as a testament to the Diocese of Kurunagala's dedication to fostering a vibrant and spiritually enriched community. By investing in the training and development of its clergy and Sunday school teachers, the diocese continues to uphold its mission of spreading the message of love, compassion, and faith to all corners of society. Such initiatives not only strengthen the fabric of the church but also contribute to the overall well-being and prosperity of the community at large. As the diocese looks towards the future, it remains committed to empowering its members and serving as a beacon of hope and inspiration for generations to come.
