On 30th July, the Sts. Peter and St. Paul's Church in Hewadiwela had a special day with the visit of Bishop Rt. Rev. Nishantha Fernando. The church was also celebrating its annual feast. Many priests, including Priest in Charge Rev. Samuel Ravindran, Rev. Samatha Kumara, Rev. Mallika Wijeratne, Rev. Victor Francis and others, joined in the celebration.
During the event, the Bishop confirmed several church members, which was a meaningful moment for everyone. There was a beautiful display made of coconuts shaped like a cross, reminding people of the church's faith and history.
Hewadiwela has the biggest church community in the Kurunagala Diocese, so lots of parishioners and members from different church groups came together to celebrate. The Bishop was very friendly and talked with everyone, showing his care for the people.
The day ended with a strong feeling of gratitude and hope among the attendees. It was a memorable occasion that brought the community closer, united by their shared beliefs. As they continue their spiritual journey, this day will be a guiding light for them to live with love and compassion, building a strong and caring congregation for the future.
