Altar Server Training Program Equips Young Church Members for Service

On the 8th of March, an empowering Altar Server Training Program was held for the young members of Christ Church, Wattegama, St. Mary's Church, Madulkale, Christ Church, Liyangala, and the House Church in Gomara. This significant event led with all the resources by Rev. John Anthony Perananthan, was joined by esteemed clergy members Rev. Matilda Williams, Rev. Victor Francis, and Rev. Pakkiarajah Iyadurai. It aimed to prepare the future altar servers for their sacred responsibilities within the church.

The session was attended by numerous enthusiastic participants from each church, eager to embrace their roles with reverence and dedication. Throughout the training, these aspiring altar servers delved into the essential duties they will undertake, including assisting during worship services, carrying the cross or candles in processions, and aiding in the preparation of the altar.

Additionally, the program provided valuable insights into the significance of their service within the Anglican tradition, emphasizing the spiritual importance of their contributions to the church community. Participants were encouraged to embody the values of humility, reverence, and service as they prepared to take on their new roles.

As we congratulate these young individuals on their readiness to serve at the altar, we also extend our heartfelt wishes for success in their sacred endeavours. Soon, the congregation will have the privilege of witnessing these dedicated young members adorned in their attire, faithfully serving the altar and enriching the worship experience for all.

May their commitment inspire others and may their service be a source of blessing to all who gather in worship.
