The Bishop of the Diocese of Kurunagala, Rt. Rev. Nishantha Fernando, embarked on a series of visits to several churches within the diocese, fostering connections with the community. The Bishop's recent visits to St. Andrews Church, St. James' Church, and St. Matthias's Church were met with warmth and enthusiasm.
On the 18th of June 2023, Bishop Nishantha Fernando arrived at St. Andrews Church in Nawalapitiya, where he graced the occasion of the confirmation of several members.
Continuing his journey, the Bishop visited St. James' Church in Thambagalla and St. Matthias's Church in Hiriyala on the 25th of June 2023. Both churches, nestled in the rural areas of the Kurunegala district, have been faithfully served by Rev. Stanley Nissanka as the priest in charge, supported by Rev. Asoka Wickramage as the curate. Despite their size, these churches boast vibrant and active communities.
During his visits, Bishop Nishantha Fernando demonstrated his dedication not only to the spiritual aspects of the church but also to fostering personal connections with its members. He took the time to interact with the children, recognizing their importance as the future of the church, and engaging in meaningful conversations with the elderly members of the parishes.
