On the 16th of September, a beacon of compassion and community spirit shone brightly in Gomara as a medical camp was held at the House Church, offering much-needed healthcare services to the local residents. The event, a testament to the power of collective effort, was organized by the dedicated Priest in Charge, Rev. Pakkiarajah Iyadurai, and the community itself.
The former Bishop of the Kurunagala Diocese, Rt. Rev. Keerthisiri Fernando, graced the occasion with his presence, adding a touch of spiritual guidance and encouragement to the proceedings.
This altruistic initiative was made possible through the generous sponsorship of several organizations and individuals. The Men's Guild of St. Luke's Church in Borella, Hemas Hospital, and D. Samson Industries (DSI) all played pivotal roles in ensuring the success of the medical camp. Their support not only exemplifies the spirit of corporate social responsibility but also reflects the unwavering commitment to the well-being of the broader community.
Undoubtedly, the heart of this event was the dedication and hard work of the various Health Service personnel from the Madolkale division, including doctors, nurses, and other staff members. Their expertise and tireless efforts ensured that the medical camp ran smoothly, providing vital healthcare services to those in need.
One of the most significant highlights of the day was the free distribution of essential items to underprivileged communities. The House church, in collaboration with its partners, distributed medicines, eyeglasses, and shoes to children who required these basic necessities. This act of kindness not only brought immediate relief to families struggling to meet these needs but also underlined the House church's commitment to the betterment of the community it serves.
Rev. Pakkiarajah Iyadurai, reflecting on the event, expressed his gratitude to all involved.
